Once Krishna and Arjuna were walking towards a village. Arjuna was pestering Krishna, asking him why Karna should be considered an unparallelled Donor & not him ?

Krishna, turned two mountains into gold. 

Then said,  "Arjuna, distribute these two gold mountains among villagers, but you must donate every bit of it ". 

Arjuna went into the village, and proclaimed he was going to donate gold to every villager, and asked them to gather near the mountain. The villagers sang his praises and Arjuna walked towards the mountains with a huffed up chest. 

For two days and two nights Arjuna shovelled gold from the mountain and donated to each villager. The mountains did not diminish in the slightest.

Most villagers came back and stood in queue within minutes. Now Arjuna was exhausted, but not ready to let go of his  Ego, told Krishna he couldn't go on any longer without rest. 

Then Krishna called Karna and told him to donate every bit of the two gold mountains.

Karna called the  villagers,  and said "Those two Gold mountains are yours. " and walked away.

Arjuna sat dumbfounded. Why hadn't this thought occurred to him? 

Krishna smiled mischievously and told him "Arjuna, subconsciously, you were attracted to the gold, you regretfully gave it away to each villager, giving them what you thought was a generous amount. Thus the size of your donation to each villager depended only on your imagination. 

Karna holds no such reservations. Look at him walking away after giving away a fortune, he doesn't expect people to sing his praises, he doesn't even care if people talk good or bad about him behind his back. That is the sign of a man already on the path of enlightenment".

Giving with an Expectation of a Return in the form of a Compliment or Thanks is not a Gift, then it becomes a Trade. 

Give without expecting anything in Return.

I was in a  a consultation with a middle age couple.They started fighting right in front of me.  The upset husband said- See doc....I 'care' so much for her & this is what I get in return..

To which the fuming wife replied- He doesn't care...he just *'controls'...!*

The care from one person was perceived as control by another ! 

Made me think...what is care and what is control?? 

How to identify them??

Soon I received the answer.

I had an argument with my teenage daughter over a trivial disciplinery issue...Harsh words were exchanged leaving both of us in tears...😪

After sometime, as our emotions settled down , we said sorry to each other...My daughter hugged me  

and said-Papa , you know why you got upset?  You were not  upset because I did wrong..but u were upset because I didnt follow your instructions....there is a big difference..!

I was stunned with her mature thinking pattern...

I received my answer too... 

I was trying to control her under the disguise of care...that caused the conflict ....

If I really 'care' from someone , I will not get upset or angry with that person...

*I will keep searching different ways to help him/her...*

If I am struggling in any relationship...

I need to closely observe if there is any subtle  control hidden behind my apparent care...

because 

Care is an expression of love 

while control is an expression of ego...

Control cuts...

Care connects ...

Control hurts...

Care heals...

Keep caring for people but dont control them ... because 

Often people are not wrong...they are just 'different'...

In personal finance, if you divide the number 72 by the rate of interest, you get to know the number of years it will take for you to double the money..

Eg: if the rate of interest is 9%, simply divide the number 72 by 9% and the answer is 8. Thus it will take 8 years to double your money if you invest at 9% p.a. rate of interest.

INTEREST We can use this rule in reverse to know the rate of interest needed to double your money to achieve your set goal.

Eg: If you have 250k today and you need 500k in 5 years. Just divide the number 72 by 5, the answer is 14.41%. Thus you need a type of investment avenue, where you earn at least 14.41% p.a. as rate of interest/returns to double your investment amount in 5 years.

INFLATION

This 'Rule 72' helps you to understand about inflation also. It helps you to calculate the amount of time it will take for inflation to make the real value of money half. Let's say present inflation is 5.5%. When you divide 72 by 5.5% the answer is 13.09 years.  That is to say, if you have 100k in your kitty today, it would take around 13.09 years for the value of the money to be halved..

1892 ஆம் ஆண்டு. *அமெரிக்காவில்* உள்ள ஸ்டான்ஃபோர்ட் *பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் படிக்கும் மாணவன்* அவன். 

அவனுக்கு உற்றார் உறவினர் *எவரும் இல்லை*. தன்னுடைய *படிப்பிற்கான கட்டணத்தை* கட்ட கூட அவனுக்கு *வசதியில்லை*. 

அவனும் அவன் *நெருங்கிய நண்பன் ஒருவனும்* சேர்ந்து ஒரு முடிவுக்கு வருகிறார்கள்.

பிரபல *இசைக் கலைஞர்* ஒருவரை வைத்து கல்லூரியில் ஒரு *இசை நிகழ்ச்சி* நடத்தி அதன் மூலம் இவர்கள் *படிப்பிற்கு தேவையான நிதியை* திரட்டுவது என்று முடிவானது. 

அதற்காக அந்த சமயத்தில் அமெரிக்காவிலும் ஏன் *உலகம் முழுதும் உலகப் புகழ் பெற்று விளங்கிய* போலந்து நாட்டை சேர்ந்த பியானோ *இசைக்கலைஞர் இக்னேஸி ஜே.பேட்ரெவ்ஸ்கியை* சந்தித்து தேதி கேட்டார்கள்.

*பேட்ரெவ்ஸ்கி வருவதாக சொன்னதே மிகப் பெரிய வெற்றி* என்பதால் இவர்கள் அந்த *நிகழ்ச்சியை* சூப்பர் ஹிட்டாக்க முடிவு செய்து *அல்லும் பகலுமாக* நிகழ்ச்சிக்காக திட்டமிட்டு *உழைக்கிறார்கள்.*

நிகழ்ச்சிக்கான அந்த நாளும் வந்தது. *அந்த நாளில் எதிர்பாராதவிதமாக* நகரில் வேறு சில முக்கிய நிகழ்வுகள் இருந்தபடியால் எதிர்பார்த்தபடி *டிக்கெட்டுகள் விற்பனையாகவில்லை*. ஆகையால் அரங்கம் *நிரம்பவில்லை.* அரும்பாடுபட்டு விழாவை ஏற்பாடு செய்த இவர்களுக்கு எப்படி இருக்கும்?

ஒரு வழியாக நிகழ்ச்சி முடிந்த பின்னர் அவரை சந்திக்கும் மாணவர்கள் *அவரிடம் $1600 கொடுத்து*, “இது தான் மொத்தம் *வசூலான தொகை*. மீதியுள்ள தொகைக்கு *முன் தேதியிட்டு செக்* கொடுத்து

விடுகிறோம். கூடிய சீக்கிரம் அந்த கணக்கில் பணம் செலுத்திவிடுகிறோம். *பெரிய மனதுடன் வாங்கிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்”* என்று கூறி *கெஞ்சியபடி* அவரிடம் *பணத்தையும் காசோலையையும் கொடுக்க*, அதை வாங்கி *காசோலையை கிழித்துப் போடும் பேட்ரெவ்ஸ்கி* அவர்கள் கொடுத்த தொகையை *அவர்களிடமே கொடுத்து* “நீங்கள் எனக்கு தரவேண்டிய *கட்டணத்தை தரவேண்டாம்.* அதை தள்ளுபடி செய்கிறேன். 

*இந்த பணத்தை* வைத்துக்கொண்டு *உங்கள் படிப்புக்கான கட்டணத்தை* கட்டுங்கள்”. என்கிறார்.

*அவர்கள் கண்கள் கலங்கியபடி அவருக்கு நன்றி கூறுகின்றனர்.*

நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெறும் அரங்கிற்கு வாடகை கொடுக்க கூட வசதியின்றி அந்த மாணவர்கள் *சிரமப்படுவதை அறிந்துகொள்ளும் பேட்ரெவ்ஸ்கி அந்த தொகையையும்* இறுதியில் தானே செலுத்திவிடுகிறார்.

பேட்ரெவ்ஸ்கி மிகப் பெரிய செல்வந்தர். அவரை பொறுத்தவரை அது சாதாரண தொகை தான். ஆனால் *அவருக்குள் இருந்த மனிதாபிமானத்தை* அந்த சம்பவம் உணர்த்தியது.

ஆனால் பேட்ரெவ்ஸ்கி, *“நான் உதவாவிட்டால்* இவர்களுக்கு வேறு *யார் உதவுவார்கள்?* இவர்களுக்கு உதவுவதால் *நாமொன்றும் குறைந்துபோகப்போவதில்லை…”* என்று கருதியே அந்த உதவியை செய்தார்.

*ஆண்டுகள் உருண்டன.*

*பேட்ரெவ்ஸ்கி* காலப்போக்கில் மேலும் *புகழின் உச்சிக்கு* சென்று ஒரு கட்டத்தில் *போலந்து நாட்டின் பிரதம மந்திரியாகவே* ஆகிவிட்டார். 

மிகப் பெரும் தலைவராக விளங்கி *நல்லாட்சி* நடத்தி வந்தார். ஆனால் *துரதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக முதல் உலகப் போர்* துவங்கிய காலகட்டம் அது. *போலந்து நாடு போரின் பிடியில்* சிக்கி சின்னாபின்னமானது. *போர் முடிவுக்கு* வரும் தருவாயில் *மக்கள் அனைத்தையும் இழந்து வறுமையில்* உழன்றனர். எங்கும் *பஞ்சம்* தலைவிரித்தாடியது.

அதன் மூலம் சுமார் *1.5 மில்லியன் போலந்து மக்கள் பசியாறினர்*.
